Time for some multi-ball action. The other 'complaint' that I hear about Creech is that it is only a 2 ball Multiball, whereas other games from this era are anything up to 6 ball and more. The difference is that the amount of things you have to do in this game whilst keeping 2 balls in play in order to achieve the Super Jackpot keeps you VERY VERY busy and always thinking where you are up to in the mode itself. I wont go through every detail of it as far as point awarded etc - you can get a VERY good run down on this large task in Sigma's Rulesheet for this game if you want to, it is an excellent rulesheet for this game by the way.
After you have spelt F-I-L-M the 'Start Movie' Locks light and they are bright as hell, you wont miss them. They are your KISS and SLIDE saucer shots ( see green arrows below ) Sinking a ball in either hole at this point locks the ball and 'Starts the Movie'. Your 2nd ball is then popped into the shooter lane and as soon as it hits a switch after being plunged your locked ball is released. Your first aim in this mode is to 'Search for' and find the Girl, she is located in one of the 3 shots indicated by the red arrows below.
Once found, you then have to Rescue the Girl by making a successful shot into the Snack Bar hole. At this stage the Snack Bar again lights for a Jackpot award and a 2nd successful shot in there awards the Jackpot points. After this you need to get the ball(s) back up to the PAID lanes so they can hit the bumpers, as you now require about 40 bumper hits in order for the Super Jackpot to light, if you manage to get that done you can again shoot the Snack bar to collect the Super award x your Bonus Multiplier that you built up throughout the Multiball mode and you have effectively then Saved the Girl.
Notice I haven't mentioned that whirlpool bowl too much yet. This is a great part of the Multiball mode in this game, not only do you have to complete all of the above to get through the mode, but in order to gain decent scores in the game you should also shoot into the left ramp while Multi-ball is running as there is a divertor open that allows the balls to go around the curly ramp and feed into this bowl.
Notice there is a switch in
the bowl itself on the right, each time your ball trips this switch
ONE letter in the word CREATURE is lit on the DMD screen, each time
CREATURE is spelt your X bonus goes up by 1X ( it starts at 1X
and goes up to 5X ) - THIS AFFECTS THE JACKPOTS AND SUPER JACKPOTS
and they are X the multiplier amount as well - making this something
well worth going for in the Mutiball mode. When you are playing the game and trying to find the girl, then
rescue her , then get the jackpot , then get bumper shots, then get
the super jackpot as well as trying to shoot balls continually into
the left ramp shot to enter the whirlpool ALL while maintaining 2
balls in play on a game that can be a bit of a drainer then you
realise just how good this mode is. I should also mention that the game gives you an opportunity to
re-start Multi-ball if you drain a ball before scoring a Jackpot.
Ok this doesn't 'do anything' as such - but it does come on
throughout Multi-ball mode when you find and rescue the girl. It is
just something a little unique in pinball.
