Ever stripped a pinball cabinet with a hair dryer? Its not a task for the faint hearted, lazy or for those that give up easily - hey wait a sec, that's me !! Man this old decal was stuck down like someone had superglued it on originally, believe it or not you are looking at about 2.5 hours work with the hairdryer and paint scraper in the 1st image below. Another hour into it in this next shot - the stuff literally only came off in 2 - 4 cm chunks at a time. FINALLY after about 4 hours I had one side done ! Obviously this process was repeated for the front , other side and backbox sides as well.
I always put a coat or two of black around the edges of the game before I lay any new decals on, recently I have been thinking I should actually buy some colour matching paint and use that instead of black. These backbox brackets get a clean up and re-spray as well. I also put a thin 'felt' backing on these brackets on the side that faces the new decals before re-installing them too so that it saves any future damage to the cabinet decal. Follow the link to see how this cabinet looks all finished up- it is amazing.
