My explanation of the modes in this game continues........

In order to achieve this is a cool 3 ball multiball mode you have to make 2 shots into and around the Boney Beast ramp which lights lock up the left orbit path, there is a divertor which forces the ball into a lock just as it enters the path , pretty much under the Beast's head.

There is a green LOCK sign and light that appear above the path when the lock hole is available so it is easy to know when you can lock one away. As a side not I really like the DMD animation for this ball lock ( it is a detached eyeball flying through the air and getting caught by a boney hand ).

Once you get 3 balls locked you then get the chance to shoot for Jackpots up the ramps until you lose 2 balls. There is another great piece of animation on the screen and then the 3 balls are ejected from this coffin that pops open and down to your left flipper.

You can also get this Tale automatically awarded to you by getting a ball through The Secret Passage but I will explain the Secret Passage at another page.

Look on the translite and at the lower right there is a coffin, if you stop the spider on there it extends the time for playing this mode and re-launches drained balls for an extra ( I think ) 20 seconds therefore allowing you to score bigger points. Also if the LOCK light is on this 'locks' a ball, if it isn't on - this lights LOCK.

This Tale is quite easy and looks after itself pretty much.

There are 3 frogs on the ramp entries - 2 on The Boney Beast Ramp and 1 on the Web Loop Ramp. You can see them here

When the ball hits the metal target below each frog it registers a hit and after completing all 3 frogs you are awarded night of the leapers.

Also when the metal is hit the frog actually launches upwards and hits the glass like you can see in the picture below. This is a little strange when you first play the game but after a while you don't notice it too much.

To collect the Night of The Leapers Tale it doesn't, however in general gameplay if you hit the frog targets enough ( after achieving the Tale ) you will start Leaper Mania in which you have a certain amount of time to hit X amount of frogs, then , when in Leaper Mania each frog is worth 100,000 points each and after about 8 hits the game lights the Extra Ball rollover as a reward.

To achieve this Tale you have to get all 3 'Skull' rollovers at the very top of the game. These can be reached by the left orbit shot ( when either LOCK or Monster Lab are NOT lit ) or via a shot from the left flipper up through the Extra Ball lane rollover , I prefer the Extra Ball shot and think it is one of the better shots on the game. It is a bit of a tight shot just to the right of The Crate

After you achieve this tale you should continue to go for these lanes as they add to your X Bonus for each time they are completed after the Tale is awarded.

Also - some of the VERY best quotes from Elvira are heard when the ball drops into the hole after you get the ball down one of these lanes.

Here is a shot of the artwork above the playfield insert for this mode - how cool.

Here is a look at the Extra Ball shot.

Eyeballs, Skulls, Coffins, Bones, Elvira - no wonder I like this game so much!

There are actually 2 skulls on the translite game, each one of them spots a Deadhead lane for you.

That's the 6 Tales, don't worry there is more to do - on the next page we will get SCARED STIFF and explore the other parts of the game that are started by the yet to be discussed translite images.
