There are more things on the translite that you can bring into general gameplay - some are pretty cool. Here is another look at the backglass - I will use this page to finalise my rant about this part of the game by explaining the remaining features of it and then move on to some stuff on and around the playfield that I didn't cover in my 'Tales' pages.
If you succesfully stop the Spider on all 3 eyeballs in a game it lights Extra Ball. Along the way the DMD animation is of Elvira acting as a type of game show host slowly revealing the words Lite Extra Ball like the girl does on the Wheel of Fortune.
This simply lights the Boney Beast Ramp for a quick 250,000 point Jackpot
Get the spider to stop on this and EVERYTHING on the playfield scores double points for 20 seconds
I covered this a little on another page - if you stop the spider on the Beasts Head then you get a 250,000 point 'hurry up' shot at the Boney Beast Ramp
This starts the Beat The Crate Mode - in this you have to hit the crate to score a value of 25,000 per hit , when you hit the crate that value is X the value of the Stiff O Meter which is moving up and down throughout this mode - so its like multiple random awards.
Stop the spider on the frog to start the Leaper Mania Mode where each hit to one of the frogs on the playfield scores 50,000 points and eventually lights Extra Ball.
Either of these give you a Telepathetic ( check that word hey ) Award such as..... Light Extra Ball Light Lock Awards of either 250,000 or 500,000 Advance Bonus by X times ( this is random ) Spot a Deadhead Skull Start Boogie Man Boogie
For some reason I go for this first , i think because the music is so lame it is hilarious. It is a 20 second ( I set mine to 30 for a longer run I like it so much ) mode where everything you hit scores 15,000 points- EVERYTHING......but throughout the mode if you drop the ball into any of the 3 holes on the playfield the value goes up by 5000 points ( to 20,000 then 25,000 and so on ) for each hit. On top of that there is a disco going on in the DMD animation and the Boogie Man squealing stupid stupid ( but funny ) quotes at you like YOU DA MAN !!! It is a VERY good mode.
Legend has it that once you complete ALL 16 lights on the translite that you get another 'end mode' or end display or at least 'something' extra happens. I haven't go there yet and I am not reading about what it does ....and if I ever get there I will then make a decision whether to put the info on my pages or not.
There's just a few other things to show you- they add a little 'safety' to the gameplay as well as bonus points.
There is a 'Secret Passage' on this game - it is located pretty much under the Beasts Head just behind the divertor for the ball LOCK up the left orbit. Basically if you hit a pissweak shot up the left orbit when LOCK is not lit and your ball fails to make it up to the deadheads, then there is a chance it can fall back through the Secret Passage. If this happens the machine instantly awards you a complete Tale, my game seems to award Stiff in the Coffin 100% of the time.
Located just above and to the right of the right slingshot is the Telepathetic Target - there is a Telepathetic Power Insert in the right outlane that is lit when a ball is first plunged onto the playfield - hitting this target toggles the state ON or OFF. If it is on and the ball drains out the right outlane in the first 20 seconds or so then the game serves you up another ball , I believe this is independent to the 'normal' shorter ball-saver - but I could be wrong. if you still have the ball in play and it passes the time where it acts as a ball saver and THEN you drain the right outlane with this still lit - then it acts as a random award from the list of awards I mentioned above.....in my experience it 'normally' gives you X bonus for this.
On the opposite side above the left slingshot are 3 targets sitting under the ramp, these are difficult to photograph. Hitting these out twice lights The Spell in the left outlane which then acts as a Ball Saver for the length of the ball. I REALLY feel a return bounceback her would be SO much better for this game. There is a mod for it but the game loses count of balls and I ain't doing that- they should have done this at the factory originally. There are a few good ways to create some safety area's when playing a ball on this game if you think about how you want to play it.
The 'official' Skill Shot involves plunging the ball straight into a sink hole just to the left of The Crate. Some guys prefer to either hit The Crate or if the Spider Hole is lit they prefer to lightly plunge the ball then allowing it to drop in the Spider Hole to start Spin The Spider in the translite. There is a way that I like to try and that is to plunge the ball, skim the face of The Crate and then have the ball land in the official Skill Shot hole - that's what I try and do each time - most times without success.
On top of each slingshot there is a little rubber 'boogie man' - apparently these were originally meant to 'dance' in the Boogie Man Boogie mode but for reasons unknown to me they never made that happen, it would have added hilarity to an already funny mode. They don't do anything or add to the game points - now they just sit there but I wanted to show an image of them on this page. Oh and before you write to tell me my sling plastics are broken , I already know that and they are one of the only bad parts on an otherwise VERY nice version of this game BUT when some people out there want to stop charging over $100.00 for a pair of bloody plastics then I might consider replacing them - until then they will stay as they are.
On my next page I will show the Skull Pile and Candle modification that I did myself , and I aint even technically savvy !
