I hadn't realised this game was missing a part of a ramp until I stripped it and I had already spent a HEAP on new ramps and didn't really want to buy another one. What had happened is that the left side of the Disaster Drop ramp had cracked off and there was not only a big gap there in the sidewall of the ramp but the ramp normally moulds over towards the No Way Out entrance where there is an image similar to the other ramps up the top of this playfield.

SO I wanted to not only find a way to fill the gap but to re-create the artwork and missing plastic section.

In these shots you will also see my fix for the gap , I used a piece of steel as a side guide just like on the No Way Out entry on WH20, you should also see that I installed Cliffy's protectors at the front of the No Way Out entry and placed my steel guide in behind them.

I cut a piece of clear 2mm perspex to the shape required and used an old pinball post and screw to hold it in place, the old style plastic post was the perfect height.

You can see everything I just described in this next shot below.

To get the art for this I took a photograph of the original artwork on the side of the SPine Chiller ramp in the shot below and then I opened that photo in photoshop and used a section of it to create a piece of artwork for my clear plastic.

I did 6 different shades and chose the best matching one.

To be honest I simply printed this onto high quality gloss photo paper and spray glued it to the top of the perspex.

Here is a few shots of how the end result looks as part of the playfield.

And once the ramps and everything else is bolted back on you can hardly see it anyway.

I hope you would agree that even though this is hardly seen and probably no-one would notice if it was even missing, that it is worth the effort to do this - another 1%er.

OK OK - who skimped on the artwork for saving a few bucks when this game was manufactured?

This is how the game is normally and to me it looks 'un-finished

 lane-art-main

I like artwork and I don't mind 'adding' stuff to my games so I intended to change the left side.

So I removed my right lane plastic and scanned it into photoshop, I then cut the image down to only the skinny return lane part ( as the right side is joined to the slingshot plastic on this game ) and then I reversed the image so it would suit the left return lane.

After that I had to trace and re-draw it and here is my re-draw

I again used a sheet of 2mm perspex that I would glue this final artwork onto  - here it is cut to shape. This is a rough cut before I smoothed / sanded the edges and it still has the protective film on it hence it looks murky.

I then did some black & white cheap test prints for sizing purposes.

And here it is in the game.

Again - make sure to check my finished WH20 pages to see this in the game better.
