I thought I would start by showing the cleaning and re-installation of the top playfield You may recall the filth that was on this playfield and the dirty smashed up mylar and wear spot from the ball dropping out of the ball arch - well take a look now. This is is after I used Wax & Grease remover and then used the Novus polishes on it. The arrow indicates where the ball mark used to be and is the place the ball will continue to be dropped when the game is rebuilt and working. I matched the paint pretty well this time , this colour was not as difficult as I thought it would be , look really close and you can see the old spot but it is barely noticeable. I will put new mylar over this section as well. Here is a couple of shots to show you the shine that this small playfield ended up with and the vibrant colour that is still in this playfield. And here it is with Bigfoot temporarily re-installed. Funny story re the steel part in the photo , and I am sure we have all done something similar - I had found a piece just like this I needed in my 'box' of bits after I had removed everything, I needed a bit of steel for a ramp fix , I found that part and thought 'that's perfect' so I cut it up and used it and it worked unreal where I placed it. About a week later I was up to this mini playfield rebuild and for the life of me I could not remember what went here so I referenced the photos I had taken at teardown stage. My heart sank when I realised I had cut this piece up and used it elsewhere, my father in law was good enough to remanufacture this new part for me. And here it is resting in the place it will be re-installed. Notice the black painted over the old bare wood at the front now? It still tends to stand out but when you see this game with all the ramps back on it doesn't stand out and , in my opinion looks better than before. I will stay on 'bare' playfields on this page and now show you a shot of top half of the lower playfield all cleaned up. Some things will be obvious compared to what you saw on my first Playfield Teardown page especially the cleanliness of the long loop shot at the back and above the hat of the No Way Out skull. Things that you should note but may not easily notice are Cliffys Ramp Protectors installed behind my 2 x NEW ' WHITE' ( not red and green ) targets. The bad wear around the left 'Boulder Garden shot' rollover switch insert is now nice and clean, this is a favourite cheat of mine, Curly at Little Shop of Games sells decals to cover those worn area's and they work BRILLIANTLY. The plastic behind the Whirlpool is nice and new/ clean looking. There is a black rubber post where the yellow one once resided on the left of the Spine Chiller. I polished every single chrome part installed here , even though you don't see 99% of them. The Disaster Drop ramp is the one ramp that I didn't buy a replacement for , this is my old black ramp all cleaned up, even though it isnt brilliantly clear it is a LOT cleaner than before.
I said on my last page that I would remove the small dirty mylar at the right slingshot, here it is coming up - make sure you check out the fine quality long nose pliers in this shot ! I always use a hair dryer method to remove mylar. And here is that area after removal of mylar and a polish Here is a look at the overall playfield after cleaning and polishing, I am indicating 2 area's that I will also fix later using Curlys decals, but I am trying to show you a few shots to highlight the quality of this playfield at the same time - its REALLY come up nice. Had enough of blank playfield images? On the next playfield page I will start to bolt stuff back on - ramps and mountains etc.
