As you will see this was a badly worn area of an otherwise perfect playfield. I had an idea of how I would fix it from the minute I saw it but had no idea if it would work. I planned to go to a sign-makers business and get them to simply re-create a "sticker" of the whole area including the green.
After thinking about it more I decided that I would patch and colour match the green area and re-do the black lines myself, then I would only need a sign-maker to re-create the red "teardrop" shaped area and the words COLLECT BONUS which should be less expensive and easier, so that is exactly what I did. In the shot below you can see I have just used a black Sharpie texta to make the black lines. I cut a piece of cardboard to the shape of the curve and used that to draw against so the line would be neat.
In this shot you can see that I have matched the green and I also now have the red "sticker" cut to shape ready to go in place over the worn area ( it's sitting there in the photo above the normal spot ). If you have never seen the stuff signmakers use these days it is incredibly thin and strong so it actually looks like paint when it is stuck down and you can hardly feel the "edges" of the sticker.
On my next page you will see that this area ends up pretty nice. I also have a link to another pinhead's website from the USA who has done something similar for the top rollover lanes on the Gottlieb pinball Genie.
